Mel Aubert (pronounced “oh bare” which is how she auditioned for and landed the gig with The Sugar Cube Tube) has been performing since elementary school and has credits in film, television, radio and theater. Her resume includes several local commercials as well as playing Elaine Harden Krantz in the Kirkenberry Productions film, “Happy Life.” She has completed two television pilots, one with Purple Motion Pictures titled “Spirits of the Road,” and one currently as a cast member and writer of The Sugar Cube Tube.
She performed stand up at the Aladdin Hotel and Casino on the Vegas Strip in December of 2005 and landed her first San Francisco lead in the summer of 2006 as Deb in “Sperm Warfare.” She did all of these things while simultaneously working as a full-time elementary school teacher.
Finally, fully living her dreams would wait no longer. So, she quit her teaching job in 2006 and began work on her one woman show, “Growing Out My Bangs.” Along with her director, Norman “Stavros” Siopis, she created a piece which she felt demonstrated that with an unwavering belief in yourself and the magic of the Universe, anything is possible.
Beyond being a performer and writer, Mel is also the founder of The Mellow Bear Foundation, a charity created with a focus on keeping the arts alive in schools.
